Orin C. Davis

Principal Investigator


Orin Davis earned the first doctorate in positive psychology, and is a self-actualization engineer who enables people to do and be their best. He consults for companies from startups to multinationals on hiring strategies, culture, innovation, diversity/inclusion, and employee well-being, and coaches people at all levels on building self-knowledge and developing personal growth trajectories. He is a startup advisor who helps early-stage companies with strategy, GTM, product, fundraising, and talent. He writes and speaks avidly about human capital, creativity and innovation, and positive psychology. His current focus is building rigorous, science-based talent systems (from candidate assessment/selection to performance management and retention) that replace the conventional hiring orthodoxy with methods that predict success. Additional projects include delineating the boundaries between human skills and AI, productivity systems, and creating programs that teach and promote self-actualization. 

As the Principal Investigator of the Quality of Life Laboratory, he conducts research on flow, creativity, hypnosis, and mentoring. Dr. Davis is also an adjunct professor of creativity and innovation, entrepreneurship, business, and psychology, and gives workshops and lectures globally about human capital, teamwork, flow, and positive psychology. Dr. Davis previously served as the Head of Behavioral Science at Vervoe and as an HR Advisor to the Center for Humane Technology, and served on the board of Clicked and as a science advisor to Happify.
